Jerez and Portimao 2014

The final race weekend in the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship. Complete Motorsports Solutions took Ian Simmonds' Tyrrell 012 to Jerez (we also had a lorry load of cars that we were transporting to Portimao after the Jerez weekend). Both the team and Ian knew all they had to do was finish both races and Ian would finish the season 3rd in the championship. Unbeknown to the team and Ian there was an issue that would keep reacurring over the weekend that would ensure Ian would not finish either of the races. On Saturday night after the first race, Philip and the team stripped the Tyrrell to find nothing wrong with the car. The engine builder then took a look at the tyrrell's engine and found a small problem which he fixed straight away. However during the second race the car once again cut out. Ian still recieved a first in class over the race weekend. With the team needing to travel straight to Portimao there was no time after the final race to check the car over, leaving the team worried about the next race weekend ahead. Once in Portimao there was time to once again strip the car and have the engine builder once again look inside the engine where a different problem was detected, a part was flown out and fitted which meant that the Tyrrell was fixed ready for the racing ahead. CMS ran two cars at the 'Algarve Classic Festival' both in the 'classic grandprix class'. Phil Hall ran his March 772 Formula 2 and Ian Simmonds in his Tyrrell 012 Formula 1. Qualifying- 17th October Ian Simmonds 3rd - 01:44:646 Phil Hall 7th - 01:48:197 Race 1- 18th October Ian Simmonds 4th - 01:45:559 Phil Hall 7th - 01:50:345 Race 2- 19th October Ian Simmonds 4th - 01:45:745 Phil Hall 8th - 01:49:587 with a puncture on the 12th lap Ian Simmonds recieved an award for first in class for both races and Phil hall recieved a second in class and a third in class. Other than Phil Hall's puncture, CMS had a successful weekend for the team and the drivers.
