A Great Start to the Season, Barcelona
A great weekend at the Espritu De Montjuich at Barcelona, with Ian Simmonds in his 1989 Tyrrell 012. Friday consisted of general testing, Ian consistently gaining speed and confidence, resulting in quicker lap times throughout the day. The Tyrrell 012 was also part of the two lap parade, attempting to break the world record for the most number of Formula One cars on circuit at the same time. Saturday begun with an early qualifying session, where Ian beat his best time at the circuit from previous years, with a best time of 1:42.779, averaging speeds of 165kph, and qualifying 14/30. Race One saw Ian gain two positions to finish 12th, with a fastest time of 1:45.200. Sundays race began just after lunch the air temperature a little cooler than the previous days race, Ian went up to 15th at the start of the race but by the end he had regained and made a place to finish 11th. The two races combined left Ian in 10/29, he also took 2nd in class. Overall another fantastic weekend with consistent progression for both the team, and Ian!
