Sun, Sea, Sand and Racing - Zandvoort 2015

Set up day on the Thursday was wet miserable and windy. Friday morning began differently, not a single cloud in the sky, the heat had dried the circuit ready for the days free practice sessions and qualifying in the afternoon. Ian Simmonds Tyrrell 012, was first out for the practice session, all went well and Ian progressively went quicker. The two Formula Twos where out next: - Steve Allen in his March 782 - Phil Hall in his March 752 Again both drivers progressively improved their times. Qualifying began after lunch firstly with the Masters Historic Formula One: Ian Qualified 11th in his Tyrrell 012. Phil Hall Qualified 4th in the Formula Two Championship in his March 752. Steve Allen Qualified 8th in his Formula Two March 782, unfortunately Steve experienced engine problems. The team changed the engine that night ready for Saturdays race. Following qualifying, Phil Hall and Nick Padmore shared the drive in the Lola T212 in the Historic Sportscars practice session, both enjoying the drive. Saturday Began with the Historic Sports car Qualifying, where Nick and Phil qualified 4th. The First formula two race, Steve Made up a number of places and competiviely raced against Phil, Steve finished 4th and Phil 3rd. (We were all looking forward to what we thought was going be a very competitive second race). Ian's first race of the weekend in the Tyrrell was very competitive, battling with cars throughout the race, he made his best times of the weekend in this race, and finished 10th. Sundays racing began with the Historic Sports car race, Nick and Phil finished 5th and 2nd in class in Phils Lola T212. The second race of the day for Complete Motorsport Solutions was the Historic Formula One race, unfortunately the Tyrrell had a clutch problem which meant the car wouldn't be going out. The Formula Two race began with Phil and Steve battling for 3rd, but at the end of the race Steve's March 782 had a major engine disaster which ended his race. Phil Hall gained another podium finish, finished in 3rd overall. The team are looking forward to getting Steve's March 782 and Ian Simmonds Tyrrell 012 back together and ready for Spa (for Ian) and Dijon (for Steve).
